Small Creatures

I wanted to create something […] small and touchable and not overwhelming like the news around the world was beginning to be.

Artist statement

These creatures are made of remnants that I have around me – wire, paper, pieces of wood, cloth, feathers, paint and whatever else I find. They are generally around 4 to 6 inches long, but a few, which I have called “Inches,” are only one inch in length.

I started these at the beginning of COVID-19. I wanted to create something that was whimsical and personal in the sense that they were small and touchable and not overwhelming like the news around the world was beginning to be.
