On September 19 th members of Working Class Productions and Optative Theatrical Laboratories joined forces to stage a theatrical action outside the US Consulate here in Montreal. Dead US soldiers, inspired by characters from Irwin Shaw’s play Bury the Dead, appeared outside the US Consulate demanding to know what they had died for. A few passers-by thought they had the answer; most were receptive and took the literature handed them. A pair of officers in blue satisfied themselves that the dead were not obstructing the consulate doors. That same evening Working Class Productions staged a full reading of the play to raise money for The War Resisters Support Campaign.
