Montreal is a city of many faces. It is a peaceful city whose citizens are also peacekeepers abroad and are opposed to the death penalty. It honours the right to be different and is not averse to a face-lift now and again to change its appearance. Sometimes it stands defiantly alone in the face of urban development, while at other times it arises from the ashes of fire to fuse modernity with nostalgia.
